In the TV guidance technology, overlapping tracking information such as the yaw angle and pitch angle, the track frame and track cross line on image through character-overlapping will make the results of the tracking more visible.it is also easy for operator to control the image tracking.This thesis designs a character-overlapping system that takes FPGA as the central processor. The whole system includes FPGA,CCD,decoder SAA7113, SRAM,encoder SAA7121 and monitor. The CCD captures analog video signal. The decoder SAA7113 converts the analog video signal into digital video signal. The encoder SAA7121 converts the digital video signal into analog video.The SRAM stores the digital video signal.The monitor displays the processed analog video signal. The function modules implemented in the FPGA include I2C bus control module, image capture module, communication module and character-overlapping module.The real-time image capture and character-overlapping are implemented in Verilog HDL in this thesis.The design and simulation of the system are implemented under the platform of Quartus II and Modelsim software. The work is a useful attempt for the application of the FPGA in the real-time image processing system. It also has positive meaning in implementing the real-time image processing based on FPGA.
