The steel-concrete composite structures as a kind of reasonable structure have many prominent advantages, such as high load-bearing capacity, stiffness of large, small cross-section and excellent earthquake resistant properties, and bringing about significant economic efficiency and social efficiency, so it has gradually become one of the main development directions of the civil engineering in 21st century in our country. The shear connection problem is one of the basic problems in the research of steel-concrete composite structures in practise. The shear connection is an important part of keeping the steel and reinforced concrete together for coordination of force and deformation. The stud with head is extensively applicated in the composite structure.. Consequently it's positive and important that studying the mechanical behavior of head stud to further promote their wider application and steel -concrete composite structure development. In this paper, it researches mechanical behavior and failure modes of studs in steel-concrete composite structures. Through tensile test and finite element numerical simulation of head studs, we can determine the weak parts on stud and propose improvement measures to dimensions of head studs in current norms. Then, the research is replaced to head stud with the common ribbed bars and studied to influence the main craft parameters that the ribbed bars T form weld, through the initial pilot study to put forward basic way of thinking for further work.According to the experimental results and the analysis results in this paper, it is clear that dimensions of head studs in the thickness direction of studs hat need to be strengthened 2~3mm adequacy. Then, it is feasible to be replaced to head studs with the common ribbed bars, but needs to carry on a strict control in welding craft parameter and carry on a strict examination according to the related national norms...
