With the rapid development of our country's economic construction, infrastructure construction and large construction projects are started continually. Light and middle duty construction vehicles'performance can't meet the requirement of high efficiency, good quality and low cost for modern construction projects yet and the trend of upsizing for construction vehicles is obvious increasingly. Therefore, heavy duty construction vehicles are becoming the indispensable equipments for the projects.However, due to the characteristic of traveling and working on the"off- road"and"the upsizing of construction vehicles", the vibration and shock suffered by vehicle body is very serious, especially for crawler construction vehicles. Moreover, as to the vehicle, its surrounding environment, driver's working comfort and efficiency are affected seriously by the violent vibration and impacts (such as the vibration and impacts suffered by crawler bulldozers). It is discovered by previous research that the vibration level of carriage body can be decreased effectively, when viscoelastic suspensions are mounted in the carriage of construction vehicles (such as crawler bulldozers). Nevertheless, the vibration isolation performance of complete vehicle is not clear yet, when construction vehicles mounted with viscoelastic suspensions travel and work in the different road and working conditions. For the above reasons, studies are performed as follows:First, the application of viscoelastic damping vibration reduction is introduced, especially, the application examples of damping vibration technology on crawler bulldozer at home and abroad. Then take a model example of crawler bulldozer to study, establish a damping model of 1/2 machine under stochastic excitation, and then expansion study of the model. The analysis results show that,the model reflect the vibration characteristics of crawler bulldozer well.Second, the accuracy degree of road surface spectrum model have a direct impact on simulation results,from study the national standard GB7031 road surface spectrum model, some road surface spectrums that can reflect the real road surfaces are constructed. And aiming to the operational characteristics of crawler vehicles, Simulate some road surface spectrum of the vehicle's special working conditions for a full analysis of the vibration characteristics about crawler vehicles.Third, crawler vehicle damping-buffer system simulation is carried out by using Matlab/simulink software. the whole vehicle's vibration characteristics under the different road surface spectrum (B,G level) and special working conditions (passing the obstacle and climbing the slope) are analyzed, and the comparative analysis with traditional rigid, semi-rigid suspension's damping characteristics of the whole vehicle is made, the results show that the vertical acceleration of vehicle body reduces about 25%, pitch angle reduces about 33%, vertical displacement of the centroid reduces about 30% under the vehicle mounted with viscoelastic suspensions than that with traditional rigid, semi-rigid suspensions.Ideas and methods used in this article can provide theory and methods for in-depth study of viscoelastic suspension's properties and improved design.
