| Wind power plants are always located in remote areas, where are very desolate and hard to set up wired networks. Consequently, building wireless networks, instead of traditional wired networks, is a lowcost shortcut. This paper gives a detailed description of wireless local area networks on wind power plant. The building of the network introduced in this paper employed IEEE 802.11b,IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11a criterion, using bridge and Mesh structure. All the wind turbines were divided into many basic service sets (BSS), and each BSS was considered to be a single subnet and had a central node. All of the basic stations in each BSS work in 2.4GHz frequency channel and the central nod used 5.8GHz frequency channel to send data back to the monitoring center on the wind power plant. Then related theory and engineering experience were quoted to compute the wireless signal attenuation, antenna selection and the height of antenna installation to provide exact data for the project. To state the application of the wireless network, this paper presented the design of the remote monitoring software and anlysed the communication of the remote monitoring system and why transferring different data with different protocol. Finally, lots of tests were made when the network was built and the results showed that the network could not only support the running of wind power plant remote monitoring software, but also had enough excess. |
