The existing research shows that more than three quarters of flight accidents are attributed to human error. Maintenance is one of the four key positions to guarantee the flight safety and improve the efficiency in civil aviation. So maintenance error is a certain component of aviation human error, which has been paid a big price by the world civil aviation.Due to the lack of maintenance human error classification standard as well as thorough and systematical research on its indicator system, there comes a situation that data structure was put into disorder, parameter setting is deficient in basis, and it's unable to thoroughly analyze the causes of human error.The research in this paper is an important component of the National Natural Science Fund project, The research on human error classification and analysis system of Chinese civil aviation(Project No.:60472128).The aim of this paper is to build a maintenance error classification standard and classification indicator system and accomplish the design of maintenance human error classification and analysis system, which can help aviation enterprises and aviation safety management institutes applying a quantitative analysis method based on data to reach a goal of accurate identification and control during the investigation and the course of analyzing unsafe events and accidents,so as to provide a scientific and practical tool to analyze the maintenance error objectively.This paper comprehensively and thoroughly summarizes and analyzes the theory and methods of maintenance and relevant industry human error classification and analysis both at home and abroad. It mainly introduced the human error classification and analysis system and its indicator system of United States Naval Air Service and FAA and made a research program on the base of this system. It also accomplished the design of maintenance human error indicator system and classification standard, made procedures for the investigation of maintenance accidents, incidents and unsafe events as well as human error classification and analysis.Finally, the comprehended software design knowledge and skill were applied to analyze the demand of constructing maintenance human error classification and analysis system as well as demonstrated its feasibility from both functional and non-functional aspects. Besides, it finished the design of system aims, which includes the total goal and functional objective. Additionally, it designed the system construction program according to the basic principle of structured system design methods. At last, it completed the design of maintenance human error classification and analysis system database.Though this paper contains widespread human error classification and analysis theory and accomplished the design of maintenance human error classification and analysis system, it hasn't completed the accomplishment of the whole system currently in the cautious consideration of time. So it needs to solicit suggestion widely and make a further discussion of the design program, then complete the accomplishment of this system finally, so as to deploy it in Chinese civil aviation.
