The suspension system, an important part of vehicle, directly affects the performance of vehicle like ride comfort and handling stability. The active suspension is able to adjust or produce controlling force between wheel and vehicle body according to road conditions. So it can restrict vehicle vibration and improve the performance of suspension and achieve the purpose of improving ride comfort and handling stability simultaneously.The contributions at this study are as following:First, we build the three-dimensional CAD model of a car's front Macpherson suspension according to the relative movement relations and parameters of all parts and analyze the suspension parameters variation rule during driving after adding road actuation. Then by using ADAMS/Insight to run the parameter analysis and experiment design, we optimize the unsatisfactory wheel alignment parameter finally.Then, in this paper, a vehicle mechanical model of 1/4 body and 1/2 body is created with ADAMS software, ADAMS canautomatically build the exact math model of suspension (which is based on multi-rigid-body dynamic theory). This mothod solved the difficult of establishment of active suspension mathematical model.In this paper, PID control strategy, fuzzy control strategy and fuzzy-PID control strategy are designed based on 1/4 vehicle mechanical model. fuzzy-PID implements the self-adjusting of it's parameters in the control system by using Fuzzy controller and improves the suspension performance gradually.ADAMS/Control connects ADAMS mechanical system models to block diagrams developed with MATLAB.According to the simulation results derived from time domain, we find that self-adapt Fuzzy PID control strategy of active suspension is reasonable, feasible. When being compared with passive suspension, active suspension reduces the body work acceleration.At last, to improve automobile side tumbling stability, the 1/2 body active suspension based on fuzzy is built. Co-simulation with ADAMS and MATLAB is conducted and the results show that the active suspension greatly enhances the active safety of the vehicle and is much better than passive suspension.We established the mathematical model of the suspension to proof the suspension build by ADAMS is right.
