China is one of the most important agriculture country in the world. In 21st century, with the development of the computer science and microelectronics, the microprocessor and the embedded technology are more and more used in the agrjculture field, and it will make the agriculture transfer from the extensive cultivation to the knowledge-intensive agriculture. Precision agriculture of our country is in the elementary phase, and it has some obstacles in the agriculture practices, such as how to obtain the agriculture information rapidly, accurately and low costly.In this paper, according to our country's situation, the embedded technology is used in the information collection of precision agriculture. The system of agriculture information collection was developed based on the technology of GPS, sensors and embedded microprocessor.The contents are as follows:(1) The technology of the agriculture information collection was researched. The theory and application about the information acquisition by the multi-sensors were analyzed as the basis of our research. The system realized the fast acquisition of agriculture information about the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere, soil water content, pH value, EC, illumination, wind speed and so on.(2) The instrument of acquiring the agriculture information was researched. It has some strong function such as collect and manage the agriculture information, manage the memory data, display in the LCD, communicate and print.(3) The GPS technology which was used in the agriculture information collection was researched. The application of the GPS can meet the precision agriculture on the exactitude position. The hardware surface of the GPS receiver and the instrument was designed and the communication protocol was programmed.(4) The methods of wireless data communication between the instrument and PC were researched. It designed the software about the short message communication with GSM wireless net. It realizes the long-distance communication about the agriculture information and it can be used for the measurement in the field.(5 ) The software about the system of the agriculture information collection was designed. It can realize the receive of the data, the management of the data, andit can connect to some data processing system, such as WebGIS, DSP and so on. It will prepare for the agriculture decision-making.
