Ten herd bulls of each Holstein, Charolais, Limousin and Simmental breed weredivided into two groups for studying effect of different parasite-expelling methods onsperm quality. The bulls in groupⅠwere back-poured with ivermectin and those ingroupⅡwere intramuscularly injected with abamectine. The results showed that thesperm vigor, density, percentage of live sperm and acrosome integrity ratio of theabamectine-injection group were decreased by 14.3% (p>0.05), 28.4% (p<0.01), 21.0%(p>0.01) and 19.5% (p<0.01), respectively, with 30.8% increase (p<0.05) of abnormalsperm ratio and decrease of two-month total output of frozen sperm from 69820 tubes to65540 tubes. In ivermectin-pouring groups, the sperm vigor, density, percentage of livesperm and acrosome integrity ratio were decreased by 1.6% (p>0.05), 5.4% (p>0.05),9.4% (p<0.05) and 5.0% (p>0.05) ,respectively, with 15.8% increase (p<0.01) inabnormal sperm ratio and decrease of two-month total output of frozen sperm from70370 tubes to 71870 tubes. The detrimental influence of the two parasite-expellingmethods was bull breed-specific with clear less influence in Holstein bulls compared tothat in Charolais, Limousin or Simmental bulls. After intramuscular injection withabamectine, levels of testosterone, LH and FSH in spermatic fluid were decreased by37.6% (p<0.01), 27.5% (p<0.01) and 8.7% (P<0.01), respectively, with 49.2% (P<0.01)and 58.9% (P<0.01) increase in estrogen and prolactin levels. In the abamectine-pouringgroup, the testosterone, LH and FSH was decreased by 4.5% (p>0.05), 4.2% (p>0.05)and 45% (P>0.05) with 8.7% (P>0.05) and 6.5% (P>0.05) increase in estrogen andprolactin levels.
