Objective:To explore the relationship between expressions of PLGF((placenta growth fact) and VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1) in pituitary adenomas with it's invasiveness.Methods:57 specimens of pituitary adenoma were classified into invasive and non-invasive group according to the comprehensive evaluation of invasive pituitary adenoma. The protein expressions of PLGF and VEGFR-1 were detected by immunohistochemical analysis and their mRNA expressions were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in the invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas.Results:30 specimens of pituitary adenoma were invasive and 27 were non-invasive. The mRNA expression of PLGF(0.582±0.166) in invasive pituitary adenoma was higher than that in non-vasive pituitary adenoma(0.342±0.147), and the difference has statistical significance(t=0.765, P<0.05); The mRNA expressions of VEGFR-1(0.660±0.212) in invasive pituitary adenoma was higher than that in non-vasive pituitary adenoma(0.371±0.134), and the difference has statistical significance(t=6.073, P<0.05). The positive rate of PLGF protein expression in invasive pituitary adenoma(76.67%) was higher than that in non-vasive pituitary adenoma(40.74%), and the difference has statistical significance(Χ2=7.620, P<0.05). The positive rate of VEGFR-1 protein expression in invasive pituitary adenoma(86.67%) was higher than that in non-vasive pituitary adenoma(48.15%), and the difference has statistical significance(Χ2=8.057, P<0.05).Conclusion:The higher expressions of PLGF and VEGFR-1 in invasive pituitary adenomas may relate to their invasiveness.
