Objectives To explore the diagnostic value of levels of cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) combined with brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in patients with cardiac dyspnea. Methods To select 125 patients with dyspnea in January 2008 to October 2008 as experimental group and 60 health adult as control group.125 patients were divided into two groups according to whether heart failure or not. Then CT-1 or BNP was measurd in patients of each group. Results (1) 65 cases were divided into central failure group,60 cases were divided into non-heart failure. (2) The BNP and CT-1 levels in Heart failure group were higher than those of non-heart failure group and control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); although the CT-1 and BNP in non-heart failure group were higher than those of control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).(3) The levels of BNP and CT-1 in severe heart failure group were higher than in the moderate heart failure group and mild heart failure group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); The levels of BNP and CT-1 in moderate heart failure group were higher than in the mild heart failure group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). (4)The serum level of CT-1 higher than 150 pg/ml or of BNP higher than 100 pg/ml as a masccline index to judge those patients were cardiogenic dyspnea or not,and the results obtained that:①Although the specificity of CT-1 less than the BNP, and the sensitivity higher than the BNP, but the difference were not statistically significant (P>0.05);②The sensitivity of parallel test was higher than that of CT-1 and BNP, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); ③The specificity of serial test was higher than that of BNP and CT-1, the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05).④The Kappa index of serial test was higher than that of BNP,CT-1 and parallel test. Conclusion (1) To determine the level of CT-1 may have some diagnostic value to cardiac dyspnea; (2) To determine the levels of CT-1 and BNP may improve the diagnosis accuracy of cardiac dyspnea.
