Objective:To investigate the characteristics of MRI perfusion weighted imaging(PWI) of primary liver cancer(PLC) before and after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE), and the value of MR PWI in evaluating therapeutic effect of TACE treatment of PLC.Materials and Methods:35 patients with PLC who were all first time TACE patients were enrolled. MRI T2WI, T1WI scan, enhancement and PWI were performed in 1 to 3 days before and 2 to 7 days after TACE. According to the change of lesions, perfusion parameters of maximum slope was used to build a time-signal intensity curve(TSC). Then, the TSC curves were compared before and after TACE to see hemodynamic changes of PLC. Therefore, the effectiveness of TACE for PLC could be assessed. Results:Among the 35 patients, almost all of them had a TSC image with quick drop and slow rise. However, the normal image was supposed to be slow drop and slow rise.31 of them, the images became much less fluctuated after the treatment,3 of them with only a little less,1 with no obvious effect. Conclusions:Liver MRI PWI not only helps display the antomy of PLC tumor lesions but also reflects hemodynamics change of PLC before and after TACE in certain degree. It is very useful for clinical evaluate the effectiveness of TACE for PLC.
