Objective:To discuss the relationship among monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), high sensitive c-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the formation, stability of the atherosclerotic(AS) plaque and severity of the disease, and the impact of Xinxu-ekang on the serum level of MCP-1 and hs-CRP.Methods:160 patients were selected, all of them were confirmed by clinical situation and coronary angiography(CAG), and were divided into acute myocardial infarction (AMI) group, unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group, stable angina pectoris (SAP) group and control group. The UAP group was divided intoⅠ-Ⅲgrades according to the Braunwald classification. The SAP and UAP group were divided into two groups according to the outcomes of CAG, MCP-1 was measured by ELISA and hs-CRP by immuneturbidimetry, compared the serum levels of MCP-1 and hs-CRP. The UAP group was divided into control group and treatment group randomly, the former was treated by nitrates,β-blocker (BB), angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI), aspirin (ASA) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) conventionally, and the later was treated by Xinxuekang on the basis of conventional treatment, they should continue the maintenance of oral medication after discharged from hospital for one month, and retest MCP-1 and hs-CRP.Results:The levels of MCP-1 and hs-CRP in AMI group (182.41±31.23 pg/ml, 19.26±5.85 mg/L) and UAP group(147.99±38.60 pg/ml,6.58±3.08 mg/L) were sig-nificantly higher than in SAP group(115.13±28.50 pg/ml,1.71±0.53 mg/L) and control group(107.58±36.24 pg/ml,1.15±0.38 mg/L)(P<0.05), and the same in AMI group and UAP group (P< 0.05), also in groups of Braunwald classificationⅠ~Ⅲ(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between SAP group and control group(P>0.05). The levels of MCP-1 and hs-CRP were both decreased in control group and treatment group after one month treatment, but the serum level in treatment group (96.24±14.60 pg/ml,3.18±0.88 mg/L) was significantly lower than in control group (117.42±22.71 pg/ml,4.45±0.96 mg/L) (P<0.05).Conclusion:MCP-1 and hs-CRP may be involved in the formation and stability of AS plaque, and reflect the severity of the disease, and can serve as a predictor of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Xinxuekang can reduce the serum levels of MCP-1 and hs-CRP effectively, and stop the inflammation, so it can make the AS plague more steady, and reduce the probability of acute coronary syndrome(ACS).
