Objectives:1. Evaluate the changes of the T2 signal intensity and ADC values of normal prostatic peripheral zone in different age.2. Evaluate the difference between the cancer in prostatic peripheral zone and normal prostate.3. Using Gleason Scores, evaluate the changes of prostate cancer patients DWI performance,ADC values and the correlation about PSA. Follow then, regarding ADC values as quantitative analysis method, use DWI to evaluate the prostate cancer patients'treatment effectiveness.Methods:1. Divide 51 healthy male volunteers into 4 groups according to their age. Group A(20-35years,n=16); Group B(36-50 years,n=13); Group C(51-65 years,n=9); Group D(﹥65 years,n=13). Measure the T2 signal intensity of prostatic peripheral zone, gluteus and the ratio of them. Compare the ADC values in different age groups and find the characteristics among different ages by analyzing MR measurements. Then do the statistic.2. Measure the ADC values about 33 cases prostate cancer in peripheral and 13 cases of normal prostate(>65 years).3. Measure 22 prostate cancer patients'PSA and ADC values before and after applying hormone therapy on them. And analyze the difference.Results:1. The relative T2 signal intensity among different groups respectively were(2.95±0.34),(3.48±0.33),(3.87±0.27),(4.37±0.31).A and C,C and D,B and D have the statistical significance. The ADC values among different groups respectively wer(e1.44±0.17)x10-3 mm2/s,(1.78±0.24)x10-3 mm2/s,(1.79±0.20)x10-3 mm2/s,(2.03±0.20)x10-3 mm2/s . All groups have the statistical difference to each other except B and C. Pearson showed that the relative T2 signal intensity,ADC values were all positively correlated with ages.2. The ADC values between PCa and normal group respectively were(0.83±0.18)x10-3 mm2/s,(2.03±0.20)x10-3 mm2/s,And have the statistical significance.3. Before and after the treatment the ADC values were (0.82±0.18)x10-3 mm2/s,(1.13±0.35) x10-3 mm2/s , PSA were ( 418.89±1505.71 ),(330.68±1092.21),Spearman correlation analysis showed that prostate cancer patients before and after the treatment with ADC values and PSA were negative correlated.Conclusion:1. The T2 signal intensity of prostatic peripheral zone increases as the age increases. The ADC values have the same trend. These changes may influence MR when diagnosing the peripheral zone. We should consider the effect of age factor.2. The ADC values between PCa and normal group were different, which can be used to distinguish normal prostate and the prostate cancer.3. PSA is difficult to fully assess the curative effects. As a substitute, DWI is a better method to guide clinical treatment and monitor healing efficacy.
