Objective: To investigate the expression and relationship of serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and pro–B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Method: 41 patients with ADHF and 38 patients with AMI were selected randomly. Venous blood was drawn when they on were admission and discharge. The levels of TNF-αand NT-proNBP were measured by Elisa. Results: In AMI group, the level of the serum TNF-αand LgNT-proBNP in patients was higher than control group (p<0.01). As compared to the level of the patients on admission ,the level of TNF-αand LgNT-proBNP after treatment decreased significantly (p<0.01). The level ofΔLgNT-proBNP was significantly correlated withΔTNF-αin this group (r=0.51, p<0.01). In ADHF group, the level of TNF-αand LgNT-proBNP was higher than control group (p<0.01). As compared to the level of the patients on admission, the level of LgNT-proBNP after treatment also decreased (p<0.01). However in this group, there was no significantly change in the level of TNF-αand no significantly correlation be between the level ofΔLgNT-proBNP and TNF-α.Conclusion: TNF-αtakes different effects on NT-proNBP between ADHF and AMI. It suggests that cytokine profiles were different between those patients with ADHF and AMI.
