Background and Objective The incidence of coronary heart disease(CHD) has tended to increase year by year, which is the main reason leading to sudden cardiac death. Therefore timely detection of CHD has a practical necessity. Noninvasive methods such as ECG, Holter monitoring and echocardiography have some limitations on the diagnosis of coronary heart disease. Although coronary angiography is the gold standard for diagnosis of CHD,it has some defects that is risky, complex and costly . In recent years, by the application of dual-source CT (DSCT), coronary artery calcification can be clearly shown and the extent of coronary atherosclerosis can be figured out.We retrospectively collected the dates of DSCT and coronary calcification score results of the hospitalized patients, who were suspected of coronary heart disease , and their cardiovascular risk factors in order to investigate factors of coronary calcification and show the significance of the detection of coronary calcification. Methods It was collection of a total of 601 cases who were suspected of CHD in Fujian Provincial Hospital from August 2009 to January 2010. By collecting the results of DSCT, the medical history and blood biochemical indicators of the patients,we tried to explore the risk factors and signification of coronary artery calcification。Result 1.Calcification-positive group and Calcification-negative group significantly are different in age, gender, prevalence of hypertension and diabetes; 2.As the number of risk factors of cardiovascular disease increases, the extent of coronary calcification is significantly raising.By theχ2 test, the difference was significant ; it was significantly different between calcification- positive group and negative group in the risk of cardiovascular events; and the degree of calcification increased ,going with the increasing risk. 3. .The higher calcium score was, the greater potentiality clinical doctors advise patients with coronary angiography ,which cannot absolutely depend on to make clinical judgement. Conclusions 1.Age,gender,hypertension and diabetes have a major impact on coronary artery calcification..Compared with single factor, multiple risk factors exponentially increase the impact of CAC.The presence of multiple risk factors combined with higher CACS in the coronary artery disease has important effect. 2. Application of DSCT coronary calcification detection can provid for suspected coronary heart disease patients with early diagnosis of clues. Calcium score high on the likelihood of coronary angiography, but it needs to consider other factors to decide whether to coronary angiography. The higher Calcification score is, the greater likelihood for coronary angiography will be.but other factors should be taken into account while we decide whether to proceed with coronary angiography.
