In this research, the model of acute lung injury was built by single intravenous injection of oleic acid and followed which we observed the influence of three kinds of traditional Chinese medicine such as shenmai, kakkonein and qingkailing on oxygen free radicals and trace element level such as zinc and chromium in acute lung injure. In the first part the animals were divided into the oleic acid model group, the vitamin C group, shenmai group, kakkonein group and qingkailing group. The level of oxygen free radicals were assessed by examining the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD),γ-glutamylcysteinylglycine (GSH) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px). The results showed that Qingkailing could reduce the level of MDA, kakkonein could reduce the content of MDA and increase the content of GSH-PX, Shenmai could increase the content of GSH.In the second part, the animals were divided into the control group, the model group and treatment group of different time points. The atom spectrophotometer was used to detect the content of zinc and chromium in the lung tissue. The results suggest that the zinc level of Qingkailing treatment group at each time point were lower than that of the oleic acid model group, which have significant difference (P<0.01). In addition to the 6h treatment group, the zinc content of the rest of kakkonein treatment group at each time point were lower than that of oleic acid model group (P<0.01). There are also significant difference between the model group and shenmai treatment group except the 6h treatment group (P<0.01).The chromium level of Qingkailing treatment group at each time point were higher than that of the oleic acid model group (P<0.05或P<0.01). In addition to the 12h treatment group, the chromium content of the rest of shenmai treatment group at each time point were higher than that of oleic acid model group(P<0.05或P<0.01). In addition to the 24h treatment group, the chromium content of the rest of kakkonein treatment group at each time point were lower than that of oleic acid model group (P<0.05或P<0.01)The results show that shenmai, kakkonein and qingkailing play a protective effect against lung injury by influencing the change of oxygen free radicals and trace elements such as zinc, chromium.
