Objective:Study the expression of Galectin-3,CD44v6,LMP-1 and EBNA-2 which similarities and differences, distributed feature and heights in follicular epithelium neoplasm of the thyroid. Methods:Envision immunohistochemical method were used to examine the expression of Galectin-3,CD44v6,LMP-1,EBNA-2 and compared among the tumor specimens of thyroid papillary carcinoma(n=30), follicular carcinoma (n=11), undifferentiated carcinoma (n=3), follicular adenoma (n=10), Hashimoto's thyroiditis(n=5) Results:1. Galectin-3,LMP-1 and EBNA-2 were mainly located in the cytoplasm and rare in the nucleus, CD44v6 were located in the cytomembrane, normal tissue around the carcinoma were negative; 2.The positive rates of Galectin-3 were 96.67%,81.81%, 66.67%,30.00%及100.00% for PTC,FTC,UDC,FA and HT respectinvely, the differences of Galectin-3 in thyroid carcinoma and follicular adenoma have statistically significance (P< 0.001), the differences of papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma were no statistically significance(P>0.05); 3. The positive rates of CD44v6 were 90.00%,81.81%,66.67%,60.00%,60.00%(3/5) for PTC,FTC,UDC,FA and HT respectinvely, the differences of CD44v6 in thyroid carcinoma and follicular adenoma, papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma were no statistically significance(P>0.05); 4.The positive rates of LMP-1 were 33.33%,9.09%,33.33%,10.00%,60.00% for PTC,FTC,UDC,FA and HT, the differences of LMP-1 in thyroid carcinoma and follicular adenoma, papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma were no statistically significance(P>0.05); 5.The positive rates of EBNA-2 were 16.67%,0.00%,0.00%,0.00%,40.00% for PT,FTC,UDC,FA and HT respectively, the differences of EBNA-2 in thyroid carcinoma and follicular adenoma, papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma were no statistically significance(P>0.05); 6. Galectin-3 and CD44v6 in PTC and FTC have correlation, LMP-1 and EBNA-2 in PTC have no correlation. Conclusion: The characteristic expression of Galectin-3 and CD44v6 will be revealed that have had typeis and malignant change in follicular epithelium neapelsm of the thyroid. Co-expression of Galectin-3 and CD44v6 will be important for diganosis and survivor in follicular epithelium neapelsm of the thyroid. Some thyroid papillary carcinomas may be related to EB virus infection, the relationship has yet to be further studied and explored.
