Interpretation Of Translation Cognitive Competence From The Perspective Of Embodied Philosophy

Translation plays a very important role in civilization spreading and culture communication of human beings. With the development of cognitive linguistics and the application of cognitive linguistic theories in translation, the research focus of target text is gradually replaced by the researches on translation cognitive process and translation competence. To improve the quality of translation, the components and development of translation competence are focused on by translation studies and translation instruction.Scholars are paying more attention to the role of the translator in the process of translation. In the study of translation psychological process, there is widespread concern about research achievements of cognitive science and cognitive linguistics. Embodied philosophy, serving as the philosophical foundation of cognitive linguistics, naturally becomes the principal theory of translation cognitive competence. The embodied philosophical view of translation puts stress on the translator's cognitive activity in translation process. It interprets translation as a process to represent the real world of source text in target language based on the experience of the world. This concept of translation pays great attention to cognitive activities in the translation process and the experience of the real world. It provides theoretical direction on the development of translation competence.The paper applies basic principles of embodied philosophy to translation process, and it discusses the important role of embodied philosophy in translation competence and the guiding significance in promoting translation quality. The paper proposes that the cognitive perspective of embodied philosophy plays an important role in developing translation cognitive competence and improving translation quality.
