E.B.White is not only an author who enjoys high reputation in the field of prose, but also a milestone in the field of Children's Literature. His three fantasies, Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web and The Trumpet of the Swan, are very popular with children and adults all over the world. This thesis is mainly to make an analysis and interpertation of the themes of these three fantasies. In Chapter I, the thesis makes a brief introduction to the concept of fantasy and narrates the process of its development. In Chapter II, the thesis classifies fantasy on the basis of time and space. It also points out the three works of E.B.White appear in form of fantasy, but are different from other fantasies, because his secondary world shared the same time and space. As a matter of fact, White created an unique secondary world based on reality.Chapter III is the main part of the thesis, which analyzes in detail the themes of these three fantasies. In these children's works, White, from various angles, unfolds three stages of life and shows a perfect understanding on the journey of life. First, the paper introduces the themes in Stuart Little, which are adventurous spirit, dream and prusuit. These are the qualities that one should have when one starts his journey of life. Secondly, the themes in Charlotte's Web will be illustrated. In the initial stage of life one may encounter difficulties, even the threatening of life. Therefore, friendship and salvation from friends will be a great help, and in crisis what an attitude for life and death one should take is another problem. In the end, the themes in The Trumpet of the Swan will be analyzed. On the journey of life love and kinship may become the sources of one's courage. With all good qualities: tolerance, fighting and optimistic attitudes, one will realize his dream sooner or later.Chapter Four analyzes the world which is reflected in the three works, holding that this world is not the perfect one, because besides the good qualities of the heroes, the author also recorded the defects of this real world, and finally this paper tries to argue only tolerance, generosity and active attitude enable one to move forward on the journey of life.White's three fantacies keep shining with their unique glamour in Children's Literature, and educate children what is the real world in special angles. Therefore, to analyze the themes of these three fantasies is of great significance.
