After the First Opium War in 1840, the Dutch Reformed Church, the English Presbyterian Church and the London Missionary Society entered Xiamen, which started the over one-hundred-year history of Christianity of Modern Minnan. As one of the important regions in Minnan, Zhangzhou, adjacent to Xiamen, plays a role as the starting point of preaching for the three churches in Mainland China. The preaching provides references for the development of other church affairs in inland. This thesis is based on the breakthrough point of Christianity of Modern Zhangzhou as well as Chinese and English historical data. It draws the outline in detail for the development of Christianity in Modern Zhangzhou from the preaching experiences, the established social undertakings and the relationship between the three churches and the modern society of Zhangzhou, and discusses its effects on the modern society of Zhangzhou, so as to further enrich the history of Christianity in Minnan region from the case study.
