Since the 21st century, the academic research on the return of our philosophy to our real life world has boomed and scored considerable achievements. Yet many discussions lack in depth without stepping into the real dimmesions of world, man and history. This paper is a bidirectional reflection on and development of Husserl's"life world"theory and Mark's perspectives on"perceptual world".The concept of"life world"was orignally proposed by Edmund Husserl, also a focus of his later philosophy. The life-world philosophy converges with Karl Mark's conception of"perceptual world", but differs in principles. By comparing and contrasting the two, the papar aims at mutual revelation—a revelation that is both conducive to the grasp of the connotation and essence of Hussel's life-world theory and understanding of Mark's historical materialism. Hopefully, the paper will lead to new directions of in-depth thinking. The whole paper consists of the introduction and five parts."The Introduction"part brifely traces weastern philosophy's exploration into the problems of the world and leads in the conception of Husserl's life world and Mark's perceptual world. Part One illustrates the life-world theory in two aspects: the proposal, connotation and essence of life-world theory and the role played by the life-world theory in the development of Husserl's Phenomenology.Part Two probes into Mark's"perceptual world"and views Mark's historical materialism from the perspective of existentialism. Part three focuses on the convergence of the conception of"life world"and"perceptual world"in the following three agreements: the agreement on the overcome of object dichotomy, on the bases for the scientific world and on the description the basic features of the world. Part Four explores into the essential differences between the two. The differences are discussed in terms of whether the world was generated from consciousness or practice, whether the historical movements of the world results from innate transfer or perceptual revolution and whether research methods are theory-dominated or practice-oriented. Part Five reveals the enlightenment we can gain from Husserl life-world theory. Husserl's life-world theory is yet to get out of its inner predicament. We can break through the limitations of his theory by integrating Mark's conception of"perceptual world",so as to fully understand the richness of man's subjectivity and wholeness of man's essential power.
