The basic viewpoints contained in the theories of psychotherapy schools are not only their basic claims but also the theoretical basis of treatment methods and technologies. And the division of different psychotherapy schools is also based on their different fundamental perspectives on philosophy, humanity, personality, disease and talk. Furthermore, to explore the basic viewpoints of various schools can be an approach to review the history of modern psychological counseling and therapy. The postmodernist thinking which rose in the latter part of 20th century and the Social Constructionist Psychology which turned up in the late 1980s made a fierce impact on psychotherapy. Post-modernism advocates diversity and equality. Arising in the 1930s, being concerned by numerous scholars in the 1950s, and stepping into its own era in the 1980s, the integration movement also had an all-round and multilevel influence on Psychological treatment. Eclection and integration have become main theoretical trends. The great impact on the development of psychotherapy made by the postmodernist thinking and the integration movement prompted therapists of different schools to reflect and reform their theories and methods, and made the generation of multiple new therapies come true.Although integration movement has achieved a lot and is still the current trend of psychotherapy, it enters into a dilemma of further development. Some important forms and contents are increasingly becoming the main trends of psychological treatment, such as group therapy, short-term therapy, spiritual research, cultural dimension. Entering the 21st century, the field of psychological therapy became confused to some extent and was confronted with enormous challenges. Under the circumstances, it is of great necessity to analyze the external factors that influence the development of psychotherapy, such as the development of social culture and other disciplines. It has become the necessary theme of psychological treatment to explore the impact of postmodernism on psychotherapy, to clarify the developmental mode of integration and its trend, to analyze the present situation and development of psychotherapy and to reflect the future of psychotherapy. The tendency of unification of clinical science may become the following wave in the evolution of psychotherapy.
