Adaption Of Eileen Chang's Work Into Movie And Tv Play From Post Modern Culture Perspective

Nowadays, it has become an irresistible wave to adapt classical literary works into films and teleplays, and studies on the adaptation of film and teleplay have present a splendid sight, which makes itself a veritable "school of learning."As one of the most shining star in the history of modern Chinese literature, Eileen Chang has become the representative of this new upsurge by adapting her novels into films and teleplays.This present paper takes the adaption of Eileen Chang's novels'Half life fate','The golden cangue','Love in a fallen city'as examples, foots on the narration change from novel to video,from movie to TV play, analyses the adaption of the above three novels in different cultural context, looks for the change of theme and narrative perspectives,confirmation of features,consideration of plots,difference of styles due to the integration of screenwriters and directors'personal styles, and so on. This is not only the outcome of the movie and TV play's own operation, nor solely the product of directors'personal art experience;as a social and cultural practice, the adaption is more likely falling deeply into the whirlpool of the time by carrying the social and cultural marks of that time. Hence, we don't need to mind too much about the differences between the adapted work and original one, after all, creating new artistic life by adapting originals is our real objective.
