Yu Dafu is the most influential author in the modern history of literature. His works is very outstanding in the literature realm. Guo Moruo compares him as "Turgenev in Russian literature realm". Some scholars in Japan and East Europe consider him as the self-novelist in China". Yu Dafu is a pretty talented author. His novels shows some petty-bourgeois intellectuals' satisfaction to the reality and confusion about the future after the May 4th Movement in China by brave material selection and fantastic statement, delineate the image of superfluous man, unveil the cruel reality, and manifest a slice of the current society. He makes a great contribution to the development of Chinese literature.His novel style basically belongs to romanticism, and also with naturalism. The color of naturalism in his works is expressed by the true description of details, ordinary trivial derived, shaping the image of superfluous man, the vivid description of natural scenery, a strong "autobiography" color and approach of prose that don't re-plot. Of course, it is about the color of naturalism that revealed in his works. First of all, it's concerning that social environment, and secondly, it's related to the life of fiction, in the end it's about art view of Yu Dafu.
