Born in France, the trend of Naturalism spread abroad from its hometown to the whole world and became a unique literature trend. Naturalism figures its characters as science, impersonality and reality. In the early twentieth century, as an important literature theory, Naturalism was brought to the China with many different kinds of west thoughts and influenced some Chinese literature works.Up to the present, when people want to study the relationship of the Naturalism and Chinese modern literature, they always neglect the ideology and aesthetics of the Naturalism, the theory which has given a great influence to the Chinese literature. Usually, they surprise the boldness and directness of this special trend, and pay more attention to the background and other questions. Therefore, this thesis tries to discuss the development of the Naturalism in modern China by two points of view. At first, it explains how this trend spread and been introduced to the Chinese, and finds the change and cause. Then, it analyses some certain literature works by comparative way. It considered that literature works of Mao Dun, Li Jieren and some other people may be influenced by the Naturalism trend and will be used for the research. The context covers three parts which separately introduces the main idea of the thesis: what's the origin and the change of conception of Naturalism, how does the trend of Naturalism spread and develop in early 20 century, and how about the influence on Modern Chinese Literature works. In the first part of the thesis, the source of the "naturalism" will be mentioned to help discuss the important questions of the context. In the second part, as Chen Duxiu first introduced this theory to the Chinese by the article "Europe Literature History", and Mao Dun set up a big discussion about the Naturalism in "Month Story", Naturalism is mostly absorbed by Chinese literature in this process. However, there nearly has no Chinese Naturalism works appeared after the translation upsurge, many people change their point of views and learn to choose some useful things that can work for our Chinese literature. That's what I want to say in the last part of the thesis.
