The traditional Confucianism of China was construed as a theory of achieved morality frequently; the feature of the theory of achieved morality consists in attaching great importance to moral cultivation. Therefore, the thought of moral cultivation that insists on moral practice becomes the core of Confucianism inevitably. Song and Ming Dynasties Neo-Confucianism that is a new stage of Confucianism pay more attention to it . With the establishment of Religious Ontology of Confucian philosophers, the moral practice is the realization to"Religious Ontology", the thoughts of moral cultivation of Confucian philosophers also have the grounds of"Religious Ontology", and enhanced consciousness of people's moral practice as well. Zhang Zai as one of the founders of Song and Ming Dynasties Neo-Confucianism, on the basis of cosmic ontology of"Tai-xu Ji Qi"and his two-fold theory of Human Nature, offered and charged with teaching by ceremony Guanschool characteristic thought of moral cultivation from the starting point of"changing temperament",and the end-result of"become nature"."Study""Opening-mind""gaining the ceremony"are practical methods of moral cultivation that Zhang Zai offered. Zhang Zai offered"Scholar——Wise man(Nibs)——Sage"as the objective systems of moral cultivation, pointed the practical order up to sage out for people. Because promotion of double characters within and without of"salutation"for Zhang Zai made his own thought of moral cultivation take on theoretic characteristics of emphasizing on virtue and study together,internal and external approaches.The social effects of the thought of moral cultivation of ZhangZai according to circumstances in a long historical period at that time and later indicated that Zhang Zai occupied a unique place and made indelible historical contribution in Song and Ming Dynasties.
