"Logical Investigation"is a masterpiece of Edmund Husserl, its first study of"Expression and Meaning"is about the language and symbol. Husserl believes that symbolic behavior is the object behavior, founded on the directly perceived, which itself is not a emotional material, and its emotional material must base and rely on the visual behavior. At the same time, object behavior makes conscious experience have intention feature, which point to objects and construct an object function. If consciousness wants to present themselves, and grasps the present, it must also be completed only by symbolic forms. First, this paper analyses Expression and Meaning by phenomenology analysis. It is divided by its nature into the Expression of lonely souls live, and the Expression of social interaction. According to its function, expression goes into the objective and subjective Expressions. The Meaning is divided into the behavior of meaning intention and behavior of meaning abundance. Based on above, activities of language statement can be divided into: the physical representation phenomena, the behavior of meaning intention, the behavior meaning abundance. And by analysis, it showed that the expression and meaning have essential relations. Thus, according to the activities of language analysis, the object of pure logic and definition can be defied: Logic is about the meaning (sense) itself and the meaning (sense) laws. Husserl's symbol theory has a major impact to many philosophers. J. Derrida employed deconstruction to Husserl symbol theory, he believed that Husserl's theory contains inherent contradictions, and tried to amend, reform phenomenology; Ludwig Wittgenstein criticized for Husserl's private language, he thought that the private language could not exist. Grotto Frege made a totally different analysis with Husserl on meaning and alleged. In addition, Husserl's symbol's theory has great significance to development of Chinese philosophy, and also provides new method and idea for Chinese logic study.
