Objective: To describe life satisfaction and mental sub-health status of adolescents in E'zhou. To explore the influencing factors of the mental sub-health status, and to examine the relationship between the life satisfaction and mental sub-health status among these adolescents.Methods: Two thousand and 0ne hundred and sixty two adolescents were obtained by using cluster-random sampling method, all subjects distributed in 2 high schools and 2 junior schools (rural area and urban area schools were equality of opportunity)and one college in E'Zhou city. Subjects with any serious diseases were excluded. Multidimensional Sub-health Questionnaire of Adolescent (MSQA), Multidimensional Students'Life Satisfaction Scale (MSLSS) and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ) were applied to assess the life satisfaction, mental sub-health status and coping style of adolescents, respectively. Epidata 3.0 and the SPSS15.0 were used for date recording and analysis. Besides the general descriptive analysis,χ2-test were used to analyze disparity of prevalence in different areas and genders. The correlation analysis and the multiple linear regression analysis were used to explore the relationship among life satisfaction,mental sub-health status and coping style.Results:Ⅰ. The scores of life satisfaction of 88.2% adolescents were above the middling level. The mean scores of general life satisfaction were 4.54±0.58, the mean scores of family satisfaction were the highest(4.97±0.88), and the mean scores of environmental satisfaction were the lowest(4.02±0.77). Girls had higher scores of life satisfaction on family, school and friends than boys (p<0.05). Students in urban area had higher scores of life satisfaction on school and environment than rural students (p<0.05). The life satisfaction in different age groups were diversify: college students had the highest scores of general life satisfaction (p<0.05); junior high school students had the highest scores of school satisfaction (p<0.05), senior high school students had the highest scores of life satisfaction on environment and friends (p<0.05), and college students had the highest scores of life satisfaction on self and family (p<0.05).Ⅱ. The prevalence of mental sub-health status of the adolescents in E'zhou was 34.2%, and was significantly higher in senior high school than in junior high school and college(p<0.05).Ⅲ. The scores of general and each dimensions of life satisfaction in mental health group were significantly higher than scores in the mental sub-health group (p<0.05). The passive coping style scores in mental sub-health group were significantly higher than scores in the mental health group (p<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that the mental sub-health status had negative correlation with passive coping style and each dimensions of life satisfaction (p<0.05), and had positive correlation with active coping style.Ⅳ.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that school satisfaction, family satisfaction, friends satisfaction, self satisfaction, active and passive coping style were contributed to mental sub-health status, and the sum square of the partial regression coefficient was 0.256.Conclusion: Mental sub-health status had negative correlation with active coping style and each dimensions of life satisfaction, and had positive correlation with passive coping style. School satisfaction, family satisfaction, friends satisfaction, self satisfaction, active and passive coping style can be used to predict the mental sub-health status.
