Pre-Raphaelite was a well-known painting school, which was born in the Victorian period of Britain, Pre-Raphaelite's works were mostly selected motif from the ancient myth,the bible story or the literature. The painters derived the nutrition vigorously from the literature and obtained the inspiration in it; therefore, their works had the strong literary interest and the function of moral education.The paper first analyzed the Bible was the energetic artery in the western world, Pre-Raphaelite continued this ancient melody, also created the massive works about this motif, the religious story picture of Pre-Raphaelite which carried their religion experience and emotion; second, the paper analyzed the myth was the western unfailing ode, Pre-Raphaelite carried on the eulogy once more, the work number went far beyond the Bible motif, the mythology picture of Pre-Raphaelite was the metaphor for their own desire; third, Literary art was the important cornerstone for the British drawing, so Pre-Raphaelite created the massive works with literature atmosphere, the literature story picture was proved that Pre-Raphaelite inquired about the free dream with the paint brush in the literature kingdom; at last, in their later period's works Pre-Raphaelite broke this ancient standard of British painting, the works no longer had literature narrative, but were only display beauty in the life, in this kind of pictures what Pre-Raphaelite emphasized was that the feeling reappearance.In a word, according the analysis Pre-Raphaelite's motif of their works, we may understand clearly the unique charm which art forms in the specific time and under the different cultural context inspiration, simultaneously, we may know the vicissitude in the British drawing artistic style, thus better help us to understand the true connotation in the British drawing art.
