The Religious Identification Of Christian In Shihezi

Since the reform and opening-up, Christianity has grown rapidly with the development of the Freedom of religious belief and the alien factors impact. even in Xinjiang where the Islam is principal religion, the development of Christianity can't be ignored. Besides, Christians are becoming pluralistic and young, so the religious identity of Christian is worthy of researched.I chose the Christian in Shihezi as my fieldwork sites for case study to review the religious identity of Christian.I conducted field work and collected the materials by observing and attending diverse collective rituals and interviewing with the Christians in Shihezi. And I analyzed them with religionistic theories about identity and some interrelated theories, in order to review why and how they become the Christian, as well as the facing and arrangment of the religious identification. On the basis of it, I summarized the religious identification about different groups of Christian.The article includes four parts. The first part included the limit of crucial concept, such as religion, identification, religious identification. and reviewed the theories of social identification, religious identification. and summarized research achievements and present situation of the religious identification. The second part(Chapter 1) introduced the history of Christianity in Shihezi, the different groups of Christian and their ashram. The third part(Chapter 2,3,4) is principal in the paper. I described the religious identification of different groups of Christian, including university student, worker and popular Christian. The fourth part analysed differences of the religious identification between different groups, and pointed out religious identification has double effect under structuring harmonious socialism society background. Finally, I gave some measures about to guide religious identification to service socialist harmonious society.
