Civil Society And Political State

The civil society, which is not only the achievement and symbol of the political-civilization's progress but also a significant propelling force for its development, is playing an increasingly important role in the modern political civilization: it gives birth to the capitalist political civilization, and its divorce from the political state impels the forming and progressing of that civilization. Therefore, to construct a socialist civil society with Chinese characteristics and to realize a virtuous interaction between it and the political state are the immense impetus tothe development of socialist political civilization. On the base of full exploration of the civil society theories in western countries, this dissertation has defined civil society as a basic concept and described the unification and divorce between civil society and political state. Their development in the relation of reliance on each other and conflict with each other is also argued in this article. With reference to the western countries' ideas of civil society, and in the light of China's tradition in its history and its reality in the era of reform and opening, we have not only analyzed to a great extent the process of development of China's civil society as well as its status quo and its features, but also pointed out a unique way to construct a socialist civil society of China.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part defines and analyzes the conception of civil society. In this part, the writer not only generalized the essential connotation of conception from the conception's evolution of civil society, but also puts forward some opinions on taking western conception to analyze Chinese problem. The second part and the third part throw light on the generalization of the relationship between the civil society and the political state and set up the model, from which we can describe the virtuous interaction between the civil society and the political state. The fourth part expounds the possible condition and practical foundation of constructing Chinese civil society. In this part, the writer takes a great interest in the social changes in contemporary china. Furthermore, the writer states that the market's reform and the transformation of the relationship between state and society make civil society taking shape in china and expounds the particularity of developing Chinese civil society. Such as the impetus from government, the un-resist separation of state and society, the socialism market economy that is Chinese civil society's economical foundation and the complexity and incompleteness of Chinese civil society's culture characteristic. Finally, this paper put forward a unique way to construct a socialist civil society of China.
