This paper reports on a study of the English language learning strategies adopted by good language learners in senior middle schools in an attempt to help bad language learners of English to achieve better performance.The subjects involved in the study were students of grades one to three in Yinghuayuan Middle School in Chaoyang District of Beijing. In the experiment, the author collected the examination and questionnaire results to pick out good language learners from the subjects, and held an interview with them. During the research, the language learning strategies most frequently adopted by the good language learners were concluded in the final chapter of the thesis. The Strategies Inventorry for Language Learners (SILL) by Oxford (1990) was used in the questionnaire with some adjustments made by the author. The questionnaire in the interview was translated into Chinese for better understanding and results. The data was analyzed by SPSS.
