As the important component of transportation industry, port is not only the interface point and synthetical logistics centre of ocean shipping and land transportation, but also the flexible important base of the industry and the growth point of the city in our country currently. The development and evolution of port is of great significance to not only regional economics but also the economic growth of the whole nation and the whole world. Precisely because of it, the research on port is all along an important content in being that economy studies. Based oneself on the current conditions of our nation, this paper strives to analysis and research on the evolution of the port industry, to probe the inherent mechanism of this industry and the competition between ports comply with new synecology angle on economics basis, and make use of the Logistic model and Lokta-Volterra model for empirical analysis, which is commonly used in synecology, hoping to submit available suggestion for its development strategy. The main content and achievement of this paper is the following three parts:First of all, based on the definition of port industry, this paper analyzed the concentration ratio,Entry&Exit barriers and spatial distribution based on the signalment of the population.Secondly, given a general survey of the development of Chinese habor industry, this paper made a further investigation and divided the developing process into two parts, and into five stages in detail. It also investigate the internal mechanism based on the synecology simultaneously.Thirdly, since the new research perspective of synecology is applied in this paper, and then we employ the common models in this theory, for example, the Logistic Model used in the increase of single species. We can conclude that the growth of harbor industry fits the curve of Logistic Model. After that, we employ the classical species model, i.e. Lokta-Volterra Model, and take Shanghai Harbor and Ningbo Zhoushan Harbor as examples. Then it shows that there is a competitive relation between these two harbors based on the empirical analysis to them. Besides, we can compute load capacity of each harbor growth environment, the competition coefficient. The value of this coefficient demonstrates the competition between them is stable and it can propose efficiently for the harbor industry to establish competition corporation strategies. At the same time, the Lokta-Volterra Model can be expanded to three and more species, and this will be the further research to combine this model with the harbor group for qualitative analysis. The main innovations is that firstly, after carding previous research, this paper tried to systematic study the evolution of the port industry based on the new angle of view; secondly, it gave a detail research on the evolution mechanism of the harbor industry from both interior factors and external factors; thirdly, by making use of the logistic model and the Lokta-Vol terra model, this paper got the result of the rule of increase and the measuration of competition between harbors on empirical analysis. But there are also much deficiency such as being lack of enterprise conduct in employing the theory。Did not catching enough data for detail research on the relationship between harbors as competition commensalism and prey relationship. Because of the model itself, data restrict and skill restrict, the three-dimensional model did not give detail empirical analysis.
