Central Henan Urban Agglomeration Study On Sustainable Development

The development of economic globalization and economic integration has brought great changes to the world. The competitive units in the new era has changed into competitions between urban agglomeration. The development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration will become an essential force in the field of regional development. In such circumstances, Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration is focused in this research. The Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration has made remarkable achievement, but there is still some distance away from sustainable development. The research of sustainable development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration is of great value for the construction and scientific development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration.This paper is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, the research background is analyzed. The purpose, significance and method of this research, and research background abroad and at home are presented. In the second chapter, relevant theories are introduced which is the theoretical framework of this research. The scope of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration is defined. The developmental purpose, status and significance of sustainable development are introduced in this chapter too. In the third chapter, the preconditions and advantages, such as advantages of natural location, abundant natural resources, labour force of a big province, economic strength, elementary industry and underpinning industry, and cultural advantage that formed in the history of thousands of years. All of these are precondition for the sustainable development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration. In chapter four, the existing problems in the process of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration development are represented, such as rigidity of system and thought, a severe waste of resource, low primacy ratio etc. Those issues have become great obstacles in the sustainable development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration. In the base of preceding analysis, countermeasures and suggestions are proposed in chapter five. The author holds the idea that the sustainable development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration lies with systematic innovations in governmental administration, in resource environment, in economic policy and human resources. The innovation of the research is the angle of sustainable development. Factors that impact the development of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration are summarized, thus intrinsic material and data are collected. By analyzing such material and data systematically, the sustainability and non-sustainability are proposed. Suggestions are proposed from the sustainable angle.
