Wedding is one of the important ceremonies in one's life and with the time and social development, the wedding ceremonies at different times have showed different characteristics. Mongolian wedding ceremony in the long process of historical development, being famous for its rich content and form, has become an important carrier of Mongolian culture. Hohhot is the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Based on various reasons related to time development, national guidelines and policy changes, social changes, the Mongolian people from different parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have come to Hohhot by urbanization, migration, etc. and they have formed a special group within the special areas, the "the Mongols in the city ". It has become an urgent and in-depth subject of ethnographic study that how urban Mongolian people living in a multicultural environment interaction inherit and develop their traditions as their own national signs and customs in the modern city as Hohhot.This thesis takes the Mongolian wedding ceremonies after the urban settlement of fifty years since Hohhot (1954) became the capital as the main object of study, based on the rich material from books, observation, and visits to collect information on the Mongolian wedding ceremony, elaborates historical changes of Mongolian wedding ceremonies in the city. It interprets the harmonious development of wedding in the "city" from the perspective of ethnology to highlight that Mongolian people, by repeating the complete wedding ceremony to integrate the multi-culture of the different regions and different ethnic cultural diversity, to rebuild a new cultural integration, and puts forward the theoretical conclusion.The thesis contains four parts including introduction, main chapters (three chapters), conclusion, and appendix. The Introduction gives the illustration of the choice of the topic, research status, purpose of the research and research methods, significance, and so on. The first chapter has two sections, first it describes the overview of Hohhot, and the stages of urbanization of Mongolian people in the city of Hohhot, and then it analyzes the changes in the Mongolian wedding ceremony in the different periods since Hohhot became the capital. The second chapter is divided into three sections. It mainly outlines the current situation of Hohhot Mongolian wedding ceremony, the typical characteristics and causes. Chapter Three has two sections, from the perspective of ethnology. It makes a theoretical explanation to the status of Hohhot Mongolian wedding ceremony. The Conclusion summarizes the main points of this thesis.
