Abstract/Summary:
"Sanyuesan Festival" is called "Shangsi" or "Double Third"In the ancient society. It's a Chinese traditional festival with a long history of over two thousand years. And it's also an important festival of the Han Chinese regions held in the spring in a traditional society.Early in the Qin Dynasty, "Sanyuesan Festival" began to breed seed, and its origin has a deep relationship with record time by things and age faith of ancient times. At the same time, it is interwoven to the ancient awareness of worship to water and reproductive worship."Sanyuesan Festival " had experienced three stages. The first was bud and forming period (from Qin to Han Dynasty), the second was mature and flourishing period (from Weijin to Tang Dynasty), and the third was period of depression (after Song Dynasty), which show two kinds of trend. One is the universal worship changing into the gender entertainment, which mainly manifested that the sacrifice is reducing while the gender entertainment is increasing. Compared with traditional festivals such as Mid-Autumn Festival and Lantern Festival, Sanyuesan Festival is more displayed with gender entertainment. Another is national festivals changing into local festivals. After Song Dynasty, Sanyuesan Festival became more and more localized and also its customs became subdivided. The social position as one of the major traditional festivals in spring began to shake.The depression of " Sanyuesan Festival "has many reasons, e.g., social productive forces, the development of social culture, the integration with Tomb–sweeping Day, being constrained by philosophy of Song Dynasty and so on. In addition, another important factor on the depression of"Sanyuesan Festival "in Central Plains is the integration between the fluorescent temple culture and the" San Yue San Festival"culture after Song Dynasty, which is proved by Shexian Nuwa palace temple with Shangsi legacy.In the traditional festivals of odd multiplicity sequence, only Sanyuesan Festival becomes insignificant. As the important part of Chinese traditional festivals culture,"Sanyuesan Festival "faces a severe test of survival. It has died out in most Central Plains. Many minorities have put"Sanyuesan Festival "into the non-material cultural heritage conservation project. But as the traditional festival of Han areas, it should not be limited to minority areas. It's necessary to resume" Sanyuesan Festival "culture of Han areas. Womens culture college of Shanghai Normal University has recruited" Sanyuesan Festival "into the campus culture, founded the " Sanyuesan daughter Festival", created campus cultural space, and made the university as a dynamic non-material cultural heritage protection "museum", which provide a new idea for the inheritance and protection of contemporary non-material cultural heritage.With folklore theory and non-material cultural heritage protection theory, combining with field survey data, the paper explores the origin of "Sanyuesan Festival", sorts out its development process, explains the reasons of its depression and makes case studies to its development status. The author makes a further research to plights and ways of solution about development of traditional festival in the context of non-material cultural heritage. The paper argues that liberal and open social culture provides the basic premise for the development of traditional festival, the official promotion and attention is an important impetus for its development, conscious creativity and a modest modernization to traditional festivals is the important method of the festivals development.
