As an important traditional festival, Laba Festival takes December eighth day as itsfixed feasts, which has rich cultural connotations. Laba Festival originated in theancient festival of December, but also penetrated by the Buddhism, so it is a fusion ofindigenous religion and a foreign religion. This makes the Laba Festival has its ownunique charm in Chinese traditional festivals and customs.At present, China is undergoing rapid social transition period, the traditionalagricultural society with the continuation of thousands of years is rapidly turning to amodern industrial society. In this background, the traditional festivals that closely linkedto the farming civilization are facing the crisis of inheritance. Based on this, this projectwill discuss the present issues, heritage protection and modern transformation of LabaFestival, which is far-reaching significance. How does the Laba Festival recover itsrevitalization in the new circumstances? And to meet the different needs of the momentpeople, and play its function, in order to achieve its restoration and continuation in thecontext of modern society.The main body of the paper consists of the following components:The first part is the introduction, it introduces the subject topics, to determine theobject of study, research significance, and research methods; summarized the currentresearch status of Laba Festival.The second part is the First Chapter; it introduces Laba Festival’s origin andhistorical changes. The final establishment and formation of Laba Festival is the resultof multiple factors, of which there are the two most critical factors: the weakening of theDecember day festival, and the infiltration of Buddhism. Then it discusses the severalevolution stages of Laba Festival from a longitudinal historical point of view.The third part is the second chapter introduces the Laba festival’s customs andcultural connotations.Part IV is divided into chapters3and4to discuss the problem of Laba Festivalendangered and transformation. Pointing out that the Laba Festival in modern society isin endangered plight, its performance is the festival’s customs is too single and public’sweak sense. The factors that cause this dilemma are from the official government, butalso has its own reason. Based on this, the transformation of the Laba Festival in modern society is particularly important, the article attempts to put forward proposalsand initiatives to protect Laba Festival.The fifth part is the conclusion.
