The coordination development between Non-ferrous metals and economic is an important part of sustainable development of social and economic .Economic and social development is inseparable from non-ferrous metals, at the same time, has promoted the non-ferrous metals industry to some extent promote. How to achieve the sustainable development between non-ferrous metals and economic should be between the important issue facing us.Since the reform and opening policy in 1978, as one of the fastest economic growing countries, China has called the world's major country of non-ferrous metals consumption, and the consumption of six commonly used metal perennial highest in the world, particularly the copper consumption was to the first in the global countries in 2005.So, the copper consumption has accounted for a large proportion of non-ferrous metals industry. With the growing economic pressure on copper demand, our government policy makers, economists and related experts are faced with some unavoidable problems: How about the development of China's copper consumption industry? What the rate of China's copper consumption be? Whether the China's copper consumption is contribute to the economic growth? How much China's copper consumption strength and flexibility to be? Does the economic growth impact the copper consumption? Instead, the copper impacts the economic growth? If we can have a good solution to these above problems ,we will well understand the copper consumer market and address more practical problems such as plan investment production in a sense. The structure and results in this study are: The first chapter is the introduction. It discussed the background to the study, the significance of the research, the research status in China and abroad, the ways of the research, the innovation of the study. The second chapter is the status of the development of the copper consumption industry. It introduced the basic situation of copper: types, application, melting methods, production, reserves, consumption, consumption structure, imports and exports, the factors affecting its development, problems in the development process and the development trends; The third chapter is the study of the relationship between the copper consumption and economic growth from the perspective of copper consumption demand, consumption strength and consumption elasticity. Then I got some results: The China's copper consumption rates were fluctuate from 1988 to 2009, but the average was 0.46 percent. It indicates that the final results of copper production for final consumption accounts for about 0.46 percent and the copper production activity is stable. China's copper consumption is not very obvious to the economic growth. The contribution of China's copper consumption to economic growth is weak. The strength of copper consumption has the downward trend from 1986 to 1998, but since 1999, it became bigger which indicating that the potentital of China's copper consumption and demand is growing .The elasticity of copper consumption is fluctuate from 1986 to 1999,but since 1999, it became smaller and smaller which indicates that the utilization coefficient of copper has been gradually increased; The forth chapter is the study of the relationship between the copper consumption and economic growth from the perspective of cointegration theory. The results are: The sequence of copper consumption and economic growth both are non-stationary series, but there is a cointegrational relationship between them. The sequence of copper consumption is not the reason for the sequence of economic growth, instead, the economic growth sequence is the reason for the copper consumption sequence. Through building the error correction model ,we can known ,if the economic growth adds 1 percent , the copper consumption increased about 0.85 percent, showing that economic growth has an big impaction on the copper consumption .The fifth chapter is the conclusion and outlook. I raised some problems for further study.
