The central cities are those that have the ability to control global or regional economy and play the role of centers of economic decisions and management. They are the nodes of information networks and the principal parts of international competition. The space effect of central cities, which is convergency effect and diffusion effect, is the distribution power of urban in nature. The prosperity of internationally famous urbans such as NewYork, HongKong, Singapore and Amsterdam also validates the importance of distribution power to economic development. There are many big gaps between those celebrated urbans and the central cities of our country. So how to improve the ability of distribution of central cities, take part in international division of labor actively and advance urban competitiveness has become the theme to be solved urgently. However, the existing studies mostly concentrate on the circulating power of corporations while the research about urban distribution power is dramatically little. Thus no matter from the theoretic or from practiacl aspects, it is very important to study the issue of distribution power of central cities in the open system .This thesis expatiates the issue of distribution power of central cities in the open system through four chapters: Chapter One is the brief introduction of urban distribution power. This chapter narrates the functions and characteristics of the urban distribution and the interrelated studies about urban distribution power nowadays in brief, and on these basises definites the connatation, characteristics and theoretic foundations of distribution power of central cities in the open system. Chapter Two analyzes the influence factors of distribution power of central cities from four aspects: distribution scales, distribution structures, distribution benefits and distribution manners. Chapter Three is the empirical analysis on Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
