India's Information Industry To Catch Up Strategy

Information Industry is the basic and guiding part in national economics, which is also the strategic pillar industry in our country. It is the key in modernization and information of our country. Under open condition, it is an important project for our country to grasp this chance, realize the leaping development of information industry and make contribution to our society.During Information Revolution, India, the same factor endowment with china, under open condition, has caught up developed countries in information industry through an export-oriented pathway. Bill Gates had predicted that the largest software R&D area and super country in the future in the world was not Europe, Japan but India. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the development and catching-up pathway of Indian information industry under open condition. Experience and lesson have been summarized and good suggestion provided. It has deeply and profound meaning.This thesis includes four chapters. In the first chapter, the concept of catching-up is defined and the origin of Catching-up theory is traced. Meanwhile, Catching-up theory under open condition is analyzed.The second chapter describes the concept of industry and information industry. Through Mutual Action model between information and traditional industry, we know that information industry plays an important part in economic development: Information Industrialization and Industry Information. Rising industries are increasingly emerging. Thus, the structure of employment has been adjusted and globalization has been promoted.The third chapter is the core. It introduces the development of Information Industry in India and concludes background and main catching-up pathways.
