The volume of trade between China and U.S. keeps on developing with the frequent exchange activities on politics and economy since the two countries established diplomatic relations. Meanwhile, the trade imbalance and its negative effects are increasingly outstanding. China took the place of Japan to have the most trade deficit to U.S. based on the Statistics of the U.S. in 1994.Then the China-U.S. trade imbalance grows quickly, and the scale is up to 232.55 billion U.S. dollars in 2006, which take up 28.5 percent of deficit of America that year. Such large scale has never happened before in American history. Nowadays, the China-U.S. trade imbalance has already become one of the hotest topics between the two countries. And this has initiated a series of problems such as trade friction, intellectual property protection and so on. Consequently, it is necessary for us to do some research on it as a serious and realistic problem.China-U.S. trade imbalance is of practical meaning. Combined the theory research with positive analysis, quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis, inductive contrast with conclusive analysis, and with a large number accurate data, the thesis attempts to analyze this question objectively. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part introduces the history and present situation of China-U.S. trade imbalance, and some questions initiated from it. The second part focuses on reasons that produce the trade imbalance. It carries on analysis from two respects, one is subjective causes such as industrial structure adjustment, the other is objective factors such as statistical methods. The third part gives some suitable measures based on correct understanding of China-U.S. trade imbalance. China-U.S. trade is essential for both countries'trade and economy. We should have more communication with America and try to get more understanding. At the same time, we should make great efforts to reduce these adverse effects through varies ways. The basic way to solve the problem is to accelerate the upgrading industrial structure, promote industry's competitiveness, and set up sustainable development.
