On The Stage Of Development Of The New Era Folklore

Folklore history is an important part of Folklore discipline construction. We should set a high value on the study of Folklore history, especially the study in the new era. The four stages in Chinese Folklore development of the new era are as follows.Restoration and beginning stage of Folklore (1978—1985). In this stage, China Folklore Society (CFS) was founded, writings of Local Place Name Annals and Local Chronicles and field investigations were done and many basic theoretical works were published. All these things laid a firm foundation for the formation of social organization development, base Folklore contingent and the Folklore development in the new era.Steadily development stage of Folklore (1986—1993). "Cultural events set the stage, trade activities play title role", the model of local economic development provided a good environment for the development of Folklore. Application study of Folklore tourism and Folklore, including contemporary meaning of Folklore study, economic value of Folklore, exploitation of Folklore tourism, protection of Folklore culture, commercialization of Folk Culture and Arts, etc were being attached discipline theoretical importance.Climax of Chinese Folklore development stage (1994—2000). Cultural construction, Culture Industry and traditional culture foster provided new opportunities for the discipline development of Folklore. Great participation of other related subjects on the Folklore study domain and frequencies of international cooperative programs and activities provided new contingents, perspectives and methods for the Folklore subject's development in the new era. During this period, there were great achievements on Folklore study, such as establishments and developments of theoretical system, establishments of the discipline position and massive arrangements of academic degree awarding units. Some basic problems of Folklore had been widely discussed.Development and mature of Folklore stage (2001—2006). Intangible cultural heritage and other protection programs for folk culture provided excellent developing environment and opportunity for Folklore study, integrated research strength, added research items. Great achievements had been made in the establishment of Folklore discipline system. Young and Middle-aged scholars became the main force of Folklore study. Theoretical research gained important breakthroughs. Discipline construction amended and consummated. Folklore had already developed into an independent discipline and had stepped into a regular development track. On the other hand, Folklore application, popularization of Folklore knowledge, etc were running well. Folklore popular publication bec ame hotspots. And Folklore had came into the classrooms of colleges, middle schools and elementary schools.In conclusion, Folklore development had relationship with era's demand, discipline construction's endeavor and other related subject's participation. Researching the basic rules of folklore's development stages, we can not only obtain some inspiration of discipline constructions, but also clarify the development direction and the goal, the duty and the request of construction of Chinese Folklore. We must construct the Folklore with Chinese characteristics and impel the Chinese Folklore to step forward to world.
