Industrial Clusters: An Effective Way To Enhance The Competitiveness Of Shanghai Automotive Industry

Along with the end of the WTO's interim, the Chinese domestic automobile market has opened to the world, so Shanghai car industry will have to face more drastic competition with numerous opponents. As a result, the problem of raising Shanghai car industry's competitiveness is very exigent. At one time, industrial cluster, as a popular industry organization form, has unassailable action on raising competitiveness. Thus, this dissertation researches the feasibility of industrial cluster applied to raise the competitiveness.After a review of relevant literature, this dissertation brings forward the viewpoint that industrial cluster is an efficient approach to raise the competitiveness, based upon analysis of industrial cluster's function with SCP and depiction of the history and trend of world car industry. After the description of the actuality, the judgment that Shanghai car industrial cluster has already shaped is advanced. Compared with other car industrial clusters via SWOT matrix, this dissertation lists the advantages and disadvantages of Shanghai car industrial cluster, and puts forward the strategies to foster Shanghai car industrial cluster. This dissertation discusses these questions roundly: How does industrial cluster raise industry's competitiveness? Is industrial cluster the suitable industry organization form for car industry? Is industrial cluster fit for Shanghai car industry?
