Based on newest performance theories and the characteristics of enterprise scale, this thesis proposed the effectiveness model of the enterprise performance appraisal methods, along the logic of proposing, analyzing and solving problems. Thus it provided the theoretical bases, for enterprises of various scales, on how to choose the suitable systematic performance appraisal methods. The thesis introduced the general research on the theories, methods and practice of performance appraisal all over the world, then analyzed and summarized the limits of the four contemporarily relatively advanced performance appraisal methods in management practice. It continuously analyzed the characteristics of the enterprise scale, based on which, the performance appraisal effectiveness model was built and the preliminary conclusion was drawn on how to choose systematic performance effective appraisal methods for various scales of enterprises. Based on those models, the thesis analyzed how to conform the suitable performance appraisal method to a systematic one for the enterprise. Two examples were given as the practice of the systematic performance appraisal effectiveness model.The thesis proposed that there is no best performance appraisal method among present ones. Thus the enterprises should choose the suitable methods based on their own specificities. The thesis built the contingent model to analyze the effectiveness of performance appraisal methods as the theoretical basis for enterprises to choose the methods from the perspective of their scales.
