Enhance The Competitiveness Of Dalian International Shipping Center

With the development of economic globalization, port plays an important role in improving the quality of the port city's economy, speeding up the development of hinterland's economy and balancing the distribution of international logistics. The importance of international shipping center is stressed by more and more countries, because there will be a prosperous economic development around the internationalshipping center.Dalian port has the advantaged geographical conditions, and it has been the biggest transfer port of grain, petroleum and liquid chemical products in Northeast Asia. However, we should clearly know that there is still a long way to go on the road of being the International Shipping Center. In Northeast Asia, there is such competition among Dalian in China, Bushan in Korea and several ports in Japan. Those rivals have taken some effective measures to meet the qualification of the international shipping center, such as the advanced port equipments, convenient port service, various ocean liners in different directions, and so on. The domestic situation is also very competitive that Qingdao port and Tianjin port all make the plan to be the international shipping center. In recently years, Dalian has a little bit fell behind by the other two ports in the construction of the international shipping center, which would be very serious if Dalian has not taken some effective measures.At present, how to survive in the competition and succeed in the end is a very important problem. In this paper, we will give a new definition of modern international shipping center firstly, and then we will analyses the factors of competitive power. Next we also analyses the necessities for Dalian port to become one of the international shipping center and in its advantages and shortcomings by SWOT. We will bring in the "convergency" theory and regional advantage theory, as a matter of fact, we creatively raise the "combined ports" strategy. At last, this dissertation analyzes the strategic measures and steps to promote the competitive advantages of the International Shipping Center of Dalian. On the basis of the present competitive advantages, easily operative strategic measures must be taken and coherent development steps must be laid out to eliminate the disadvantages and promote the advantages.This thesis is striving to base on the total and systematic ideas, considering the port's development would boost district economy, analyzing Dalian port's position, function, competitive condition and economy environments of district economy development, forecasting the transfer need of the port and suggestion the policy goal of Dalian port and also its step and means to reach the goal in a few years. Dalian is shouldering the pressure of construction of one of the International Shipping Center, which is not only the strategic step of rejuvenating of Northeast China, but also the need of economic development.
