The Study Of Urban Poverty In China Cause Analysis And Countermeasures

China is in the period of social transformation and economicreform at present. The urban poverty is becoming a completely newsocial and economic problem in the process. As a hot topic, it is thecenter of economic study and the focus of sociology as well. A propersolution to urban poverty is not only what economic growth should bringabout, but also what social equity and justice calls for. So it hasvery important significance in practice.From the perspective of economics, the article, Firstly, givesa clear explanation of the meaning of urban poverty, and then makesa theoretical summary of urban poverty study. Secondly, the articleobserves the current situation of urban poverty respectively fromthree aspects——the scale of the poor,the distribution of the poor,and the life of the poor. Thirdly, the article thoroughly analysesthe reasons of Chinese urban poverty, and proposes some solutions andcountermeasures to it.The author thinks that the reasons of Chinese urban poverty liein the following three aspects:1. From the historical point of view, there are two aspects needto be improved: a. the excessive pressure of population: b. the lowlevel of productivity.2. From the economic point of view, the following aspects——badmanagement of state-owned enterprises,large amount of unemployment,discontinuous welfare,economic cycle,"three agriculture"problem and global economics effect, are the economic origins ofleading to the urban poverty.3. Others, including the lost of the social security and welfaresystem reform,the unfair income distribution,the modernization course and the poor individual or family factors etc.The author proposes the following solutions and countermeasures:1. To promote the employment in the process of development.2. To deal with urban poverty by system innovation3. To exploit human resources and improve the quality of the poor.4. To perfect income distribution mechanism and promote socialequity.
