Human Capital And Regional Economic Growth Differences In China Study

The aggravation of economic development gap between areas becomes anoutstanding problem during the developing of economic in our country. The study onthis issue has important sense to the developing of the whole economic and thestability of the society in our country. As an important factor, to what extent thathuman capital affects the difference of the economic development between areas, thisis one of the key contents of the research on economic growth theory.This dissertation expounds the development of human capital theory, the effectof human capital makes on the economic growth, and relative theory of humancapital and the convergence of economic growth at first. Then takes Guangdong andGuangxi as examples, compares the situation of the economic development of thesetwo regions, uses 1978-2004 time series data and the software of statistical analysis—SPSS10.0.7, builds up the regression models of production function, quantitativeanalysis how much the human capital's contribution to economic growth of the tworegions, and testifies the correlativity between the human capital and the technologyprogress of under 1985-2004 time series data of this two regions. Finally, analyzesthe reasons of the difference of the effect that human capital makes, and providescounter-policy suggestions under the result of the research.The result of the research indicated that the gap of the contribution of humancapital to the economic growth between these two regions is not big. The gap of thecontribution of TFP to economic growth is the biggest. There are strong correlationbetween human capital and technology progress. So, human capital makes animportant role on the economic growth, but the stocks of the human capital itself is not the main factor of the gap of the economic development between these tworegions, human capital affects the gap of the economic development thoroughaffecting the lever of the technology progress, so effects TFP and economic of thesetwo regions. The difference of human capital's using efficient. and the environment, policy etc. in these two regions become important factors for the difference ofeconomic growth as well.Therefore, this dissertation revealed the relationship between human capitaland the difference of economic growth from empire data. This dissertation takes outan important conclusion that human capital is the prerequisite of the gap of theeconomic development, but not the sufficient condition. This conclusion testifiedrelative conclusions of endogenous growth theory, and revised the general idea ofhuman capital stock itself is the determining factor of economic growth, this hasimportant theory and policy instruction significance for making the gap ofeconomic development between nationals or areas smaller.
