Rural tourism is a new type of tourism in the development of the tourism industry, which began in the 19th century's Europe and did not evolve into the development stage with hallmark until mid 20th century. The modern rural tourism in our country began in the 50s in last century. Around the cities a lot of rural tourism areas have been built and rural tourism has a good trend to develop. Suburban rural tourism is an m important part in rural tourism with the development of rural tourism. We also realise that the development of suburban rural tourism in our country is still at its early stage and compared to other countries the gap is relatively big . The scale of agriculture, the level of science and technology, human resources and funds are the bottleneck of the development of Chinese suburban rural tourism, these prevent the full development of the complex of its capacity. Based on the study of the vast researched on the development of rural tourism both in our country and abroad, this paper carries out a systematic theoretic analysis of suburban rural tourism, from the perspective of 'rural' illustrates the concept of suburban rural tourism and relevant theories affecting the development of rural tourism, and the origin of rural tourism, development status and models in China and abroad, and also analyses the problems in the development of rural tourism, and combined with the case study of the development of rural tourism at Mingjia Village Fulin District Chongqing Municipality put forward detailed strategies and policy suggestions in development of suburban rural tourism, which enriches the overall researches on suburban rural tourism with the expectation that my research will be of certain reference in continuos development of suburban rural tourism in our country.
