Constructability Of Construction Projects

Historically, a technical expert was responsible for the design and construction. But as the scale of production and professional, the size of construction project is also growing. Increasingly complex technology, design and construction have started by different people to bear . Today, the design and construction has been completely different professions. The designer is responsible for the provision of technical documents and guides the construction and the construction personnel by the main task is to map construction. The separation of design and construction make the exchanges between them less and less; the design of the construction can be considered less and less, which often unable to make construction blueprints and construction. These lead to design changes, delays expected, and if the result the program restructuring, and even some not considered due to the overall construction plan which led to the construction of inefficient or even rework issues. Thus, the United States Association for the construction industry (CII) in 1986 began to actively promote the constructability of the research, stressed the experience of the construction personnel as soon as possible to participate in the project, construction experience and knowledge will be entered into preliminary design process. While this paper is based on China's current study on the construction of the less theory of the status quo, combining process control theory, value engineering theory and previous scholars (both domestic and foreign) some of the points put forward my own views. Since I primarily engaged in the management of municipal works, most cases is municipal works and mainly reference to some of the other literature of built case ,which are illustrate the importance of constructability. I hope this paper could provide the man of construction-related industries some help. This paper mainly focuses on following issues:1. The development of constructability. It mainly introduces situations both domestically and abroad, and highlights the causes and development of construction abroad (United States, United Kingdom); it also points out study deficiencies of constructability in China currently.2. Analysis on application of constructability. First, it analyzes the influential factors of constructability, and then it analyzes the constructability of procurement in early and medium-term of a project. And it mainly analyzes the impacts from contract model on constructability.3. Analysis on applications of constructability in China and corresponding Countermeasures. It mainly briefs the current situation of constructability in China and strengthens the concept of integration between design and construction.
