The modern companies take more and more efforts to research and development on new projects in order to increase the competitive attributes of the product and extend marketing share. The high risk and uncertain factor in the early development stage of the IT research projects cause the schedule management becoming the most important factor of the project management. While traditionally people control schedule with the Gantt charts. But these methods cannot deal with the random process; also cannot plan and balance the schedule and resource totally, efficiently and economically, and take the consideration of the inner dependent logical relations among the separate process. So the economical and efficient project management becomes a focus issue in the theory and practice of the development project on the IT fields. The thesis bases on the new project development project---the R&D process of the motherboard as research background. Firstly, build the GERT model of the project by the Random network technology; Secondly, describe the procedure and method of the setup and analytical algorithm of the GERT model on the basis of the conclusion on the theory of the analysis with the detail example of the R&D project on the motherboard; Then, based on the recursive simplification algorithm of GERT model, Crystal Ball software is developed. Simulate the model of the R&D project on motherboard and get the statistical eigenvalues and probability distribution chart of the project finish time; Finally, take an deep step to deduce statistically on the project finish time in order to provide quantitative reference of the scheduling control and decision-making on the project by taking account of the result of the analysis and simulation.
